Reproductive Health has become public health concern due to: –

  • Unsatisfactory reduction in teen pregnancy.
  • Increasing incidence of sexual assault and increase in HIV/AIDS infection.
  • Rise in fertility from 116 to 132 between 2010 and 2015.
  • 1 in 4 girls aged 15-19 is either pregnant or has already given birth.
  • 1 in 10 adolescent girls use modern contraceptive

 

Teen Pregnancy is associated with: –

  • School drop out
  • Reproductive health related problem.
  • Unsafe abortion practices.
  • Low birth weight.
  • Preterm delivery.
  • Sever neonatal condition.
  • Risk of death due to malnutrition due to poor reproductive services (due to stigma).
